ITHPs and Clinical Research
Internationally Trained Health Professionals (ITHPs) often find it very difficult to continue their medical professions in Canada. Even if opportunities are available, it usually takes a number of years before they are fully licensed to practice medicine or other health professions. This has led to many highly educated immigrants to Canada not working in their chosen field.
With the Clinical Research program at Oxford College, these ITHPs will now have a way for them to quickly enter the Canadian workforce in a field where they can use their medical skills and knowledge. Many Clinical Research Coordinators work in hospitals, where they take part in clinical trials developed by their research departments.
Most of the graduates and current students in the Clinical Research program at Oxford College are physicians from foreign countries, and have now decided to use their experience to work as a Clinical Research Coordinator or Clinical Research Associate.
